I felt miserable. My husband felt so very bad for me. He called my daughter, Amy, and arranged to pick her and her beau up to spend the night with me (that oughta cheer me up!) On their way home, they stopped and picked me up a gift.

I named her Cha-cha II. She is beautiful and looks just like Peanut when Peanut was a baby.

When it is sleepy time, Cha-cha runs to her cage-bed, cuddles up with her little furry friend and sleeps. At night we close the gate to her bed so that she doesn't wander around...she gets scared when she doesn't see anyone. Then in the morning, I open her gate and take her straight to her "Wee-Wee" pad. Then she gets her yummie food and plenty of water...which means another trip to the "Wee-wee" pad.

Nite-nite Little Cha-cha!

She is really sweet.
..

No one can take the place of a loved one. The wind huffed and puffed and blew down our fence. Our beloved little critters ran out of the yard and all over town. I finally gathered them all up and brought them all into the house. Of course I called our general contractor and so he came right out and gave us an estimate. We also put out calls for other estimates, but finally settled on our general contractor because he gaves us a good estimate (middle from lowest to highest), but most importantly, we knew his work and his character. It took a couple of weeks, but we finally got started building our new fence (Now that's another story!)

Well, a couple of months after the wind storms, Peanut went into labor with three pups on Saturday, February 24, 2007. She was having a very rough time of it and was not doing very well. The first pup was still born, breech. My husband thought that this was fine, just going through labor and birth, Peanut would be fine, dogs do it every day. Little Peanut was going down hill and I was scared. My friend, Sherry Ann dropped by for a visit and we watched little Peanut who was really bad off. So we, Sherry Ann and I, went with Peanut to the ER for doggies. This was 30 miles away, but the closest 24 hour medical services for small animals. So Sherry and I rushed Peanut to the ER. We had tried all that we could. The Veterinarians were heroic. Peanut's blood sugar had dropped to very low levels. Her body temperature was 92, when it should have been 102 degrees. She was having seizures due to the low body temp and low blood sugar. She was put on IV meds including glucose. She was wrapped in a heated bubble blanket. It looked like bubble packaging wrap, but the bubbles were much larger and had heated air circulating in them. She was given IV anti-seizure meds. Her body temp finally began to rise. Her blood sugar came up a bit. She continued to have seizures, even with the added injections of anti-seizure meds. When she would seize, foam would be produced in her mouth. She aspirated on some of the foam and began difficulty in breathing. She was put on oxygen. Eventually, it seemed she was doing a little better. Their advice was to go on home and they would keep me updated by phone. At 12:31, I received a call. Peanut had slipped into a deep coma. She had stopped breathing, so they were breathing for her, but then her heart stopped. They tried everything, but she just would not be revived. They reported that at 12:27am, Sunday, February 25, 2007, Little Peanut died. All of her puppies were still born. I was and still am Mortified.

..

To view another of my blog pages, click on Maddi's Spot!

Maddi's Spot

..
